Saturday, December 7, 6pm at the Farmstead Barn, 2816 US 1 Sullivan. An evening of film entertainment, curated and mc’d by Sullivan artist George Schaefer and presented entirely on 16mm. The program is an assorted bag of fliks, including animation, educational films, experimental work, and a silent feature (The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari).
Tom Karnofsky, also of Sullivan, will provide accompaniment to Georges Meleis “A Trip to the Moon” and the computer animated “Circle Circus.” Tom is a seasoned improvisor and provocateur, mixing vocals and upright bass.
Additional titles include the season appropriate “The Snowman”, Raggedy Ann and Andy in “The Pumpkin Who Wouldn’t Smile”, old serial cartoons of Krazy Kat and Mickey Mouse, early Chaplin, a chapter from Fantasia, and Disney’s biography of American painter “Henry O Tanner”. With loops and montage by Schaefer (cinemaofphotodeath.net). Source material for the event comes from the artist’s own collection, much of it acquired from the Chicago Film Archive and the Chicago Public Library.
There will be a side yard fire pit for chit chat, reprieve and holiday cheer, as well as some light refreshment. Kid-friendly and casual. Come as you are, share the experience, reminisce about media or experience it anew. Taking place at the Farmstead Barn, 2816 US 1, in Sullivan. Free and open to the public!
