An extended screening of 16mm films, Saturday, November 1, 5pm at the Farmstead Barn, 2816 US 1 Sullivan.

As the days grow shorter, please join a collective of local artists for an extended screening of 16mm films, curated and mc’d by Sullivan artist George Schaefer and featuring a variety of live interventions (the first portion of the program is classic animation suitable for kids and performances will begin around 730pm). The program will feature the animated films “The Jungle Book” and “The Pumpkin Who Wouldn’t Smile” and "Curious George"; a rare documentary of the pioneering Black American artist Henry O. Tanner; “Sirene,” a surrealist short from 1968 written and directed by Raoul Servais; and a few surprises.

Saxophonist Phillip Greenlief and writer Claudia La Rocco, otherwise known as animals & giraffes, will provide improvised accompaniment for a unique cut of expressionist treasure “The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari” (1919). Tom Karnofsky (upright bass, vocals) and Gary Bushee (mandolin, modified guitar) will play to "Trip to the Moon" and auction lot found footage. Saxophonist/composer Phillip Greenlief has achieved international acclaim for his recordings and performances with musicians and composers in the post-jazz continuum as well as new music innovators and virtuosic improvisers. https://www.phillipgreenlief.com/ Claudia La Rocco is the author, most recently, of the novella Drive By (Smooth Friend) and the chapbook-length essay Certain Things (Afternoon Editions). Her multi-genre novel petit cadeau was published in live, digital, and print editions by The Chocolate Factory. Her second selected writings is forthcoming from Soberscove Press. https://claudialarocco.com/

Kid-friendly and casual; come as you are, stay for a little while or the whole time. Taking place at the Farmstead Barn, 2816 US 1, in Sullivan.
